RoadTrip: EC: back in (Rainy) Santa Rosa til probably mid-to-late April

5PM 3/24/2012
Wondering where you are, Gar.
I'm joining Darlene and Kathrin on a hike to Salt Point this Wed the 28th. Are you around to join? We meet at Monte Rio at the Russian River near the bridge. This will be my last hike with them; sob.

re: I'm Back in Santa Rosa til probably mid-to-late April
Had a prolific time generating too many photo's - even hiked about 60
miles on the PCT in between two snow/rain storms and meeting up with a
group of other Native Plant people exploring the desert.  I hope to
process & post some picts soon, although there are a few other
things on my agenda to do while I'm in town.

Hi Peeter,
I happened to be here at the EC early this afternoon when the roofer walked in.
I pointed out the areas on the ceilling that were apparently leaking
(seemed to me one of the tiles in the main meeting room was also damp,
and a tile in Susan's office where the electrical for the outside
light enters, and a spot between the office and printer room.
The roofer walked around on the roof for a few minutes, then said he
had to leave and would come back after the roof was dry.

Gary, will you give him your phone number if he needs it, please?  I cannot be the responsible person for a while, as I'm totally engaged   for several days...

RoadTrip: PCT: EC: You still here? (loose keys & Fremontia's)

10AM 3/7/2012
Hi Gary.
Not sure if you have left on an adventure yet. Will you be at the board meeting? If so Kathi and I would like to come around 6 to go through the file drawer and I don't have a key. No big deal if you won't be there, I can rummage around after the meeting or maybe have Liz come early.
-Pat S

Pat,
I am leaving tomorrow morning.  I'll probably be at the Water
Coalition meeting this evening.

There is a key to the CNPS file cabinet at the EC ...
I'll also put the key to the CNPSMB POBox ...

I visited Kathryn Williams yesterday on her birthday and returned with a box full of Boz's Fremontia's.   Thanks, Kathryn!

You may recall I had been trying to compile a "complete set" of
Fremontias for the library at the EC.  Sandra Cleisz most recently
donated her collection, but there were still significant gaps.  I took
the time today to fill in the gaps using Boz's copies, so now there is
a nearly complete set from 1978 on (except for a gap in 1989, and only
a scattering before 1978, and some missing recent ones.

I placed the "complete set" in the bottom shelf of the small bookcase
below the "NW Coast Rainforests" poster in the EC library.  I stacked
the "duplicates" (mostly Boz's and a few other people's) in an
inconspicuous pile on the bottom shelf of the larger bookcase that has
the mixture of CNPS books & trail guides etc.

Attached is an inventory list of all the copies showing which are
duplicated.   (At this point I suspect there may be some errors... So if the
"duplicate pile" is used for "give-aways", maybe pick issues for which
we have more than one duplicate, just in case.)

I should still occasionally be checking my email during my trip.  The
following three to 5 weeks I'll be "with my car" - the 1st 2 or three
weeks with Sandy who wants to explore the lower desert and we may do
some day trips along the PCT at the west rim of the Anza Borrego valley, north of Mt Laguna, and then I'll be by myself hopefully doing some longer
backpacks along the trail with my car stashed "somewhere" for a few
days at a time.   I hope to be taking lots of picts, with a GPS tracklog
going that I can match up with picts later.  Hope to have the presence
of mind to notice unique plants and photograph representative
"vegetation types".

I'll probably be back in Santa Rosa the early part of April (in
particular I have an appointment on the 12th) but then hope to be
traveling for a longer time. beginning mid-April.  I may be back again
shortly May-June, then gone for the rest of the year, maybe.
-Gary

I have a lot of extra Fremontias and will see if I have any of the missing ones.   Good work on getting an almost complete set.  We will miss you Gary.  Who is going to  do the membership and labels for mailing the newsletter?
-Liz P

Hi Liz,
Jim will be doing the membership.  But I hope to still be able to keep an eye on it as well...
"More Fremontias... Need more Fremontia's!"   Great! We'll soon have everyone's name represented in the mix! ...and then have enough for a 2nd complete set for the LBAGC!

RoadTrip: PCT: out of town probably for the rest of the summer

Hi Roni,

I guess last we talked about my plans I said I would be leaving again
shortly after the SCCC event on March 3rd.  Since then it seems I've
told everyone except you that the exact date would be this Wednesday
March 7 - tomorrow - although now it looks like I MAY stay just one
more night til this Thursday morning.

Beginning March 8, I will be "out of town" at least two weeks,
probably three, maybe four.  It's likely I'll be back for a week or so
the beginning of April - in particular on April 12 I have an
appointment to keep.  Then I hope to be gone for the rest of the
summer.

Gary
