PCT: Annual Meeting RSVP

Hi Leslie,
I hope to attend your Annual Meeting to learn more about your
organization and maybe have an opportunity to ask some questions.

I am particularly interested in how you promote and support the
various logistical services provided to thru-hikers by "trail angels"
and other people and establishments in the local communities at trail
crossings.  I have had an interest in promoting increased ride sharing
and "errand-sharing" or other resource sharing within my own and other
local communities more generally, and think there might be
"transferable methods" that you employ to support thru-hikers that
could be applied to supporting "transit-disadvantaged" people and
others trying to reduce their dependence on cars, and communities
trying to transition to a more pedestrian-oriented infrastructure. (I
have been somewhat involved with a local group in Sonoma County
concerned with transportation and land use issues, and with other
groups' related activities including with the Sierra Club.  I have
also begun hiking sections of the trail last month - with my car - but
expect to resume hiking the southern 500 miles in May, hopefully
without my car.)

I am also curious about the status of the planned Tejon Ranch trail
realighnment. I have been aware of the campaign to "preserve" this
unique region due to its ecological diversity and critical role as
wildlife corridor, through my involvement in the California Native
Plant Society.  In fact, during my hike along the trail, I expect to
be very systematically photo-documenting the plant communities I pass
through, as well as the individual plants, the bulk of which I will
make available to CNPS and any other interested organizations, at
least via my photo gallery site at muddyknees.net

I look forward to meeting you and others involved with the PCTA.
