I may try to take my time to still get to Julian on a Friday to be able to catch the bus. (But I will still have to hitch to Warner Springs from Julian - probably via Santa Ysabel.)
BTW, what are you able to see as my location on Lattitude? Just the town, or the pinpoint on the map? I only just discovered the option to share location individually (I think.) While I was driving down, I was trying to indicate location by "checking in" to representative locations along the way, but not sure if I was doing that right at first. My first few checkins were: a hydroponics place in Petaluma, then the GG National Recreation Area, then GG park, then SFSU. Did you see those? I then went through the motions of "creating" a new location called 101 leaving a comment "jammin" because I was in a traffic jam where 280 merged with 101. (Would be surprised if that "took" since no wifi connection there.) Not sure if I checked into any others - oh yeah, where I got gas in King City. Nothing very useful for me, I now think.
I stopped about 11pm at the south end of the Carrizo Plain (a bit past the campground I was aiming for, so I just chose a side road & slept at a turnout on that. All dirt roads in that area. Woke up at sunrise, took some picts just with my cell phone (practicing using an app called Imageotag that is supposed to record the camera direction a well as the gps coords. unfortunately I noticed too later after reviewing the picts that the photos were cropped more than I expected so a lot of the horizons were cut off, making the shots rather worthless except for the testing.) But this app produces a nice slideshow that shows both the image and a "map" showing direction arrow (but again, not sure yet whether I can upload to share it... Hope to figure that out soon as well.
